THE RETREAT
The Rural Art Spaces, a Brazilian utopia
Editorial and sound project
Rural Art Spaces are part of a new model of artist residency that emerged in Brazil in 2012.
They represent a fusion of social, ecological, and artistic initiatives, offering an alternative to urban-centric perspectives. These
art spaces prioritize interdisciplinary researches, alternating between creative experimentations and a focus on agro-ecology.
Embracing life in the countryside or in the rain forest, they emphasize collaborations as essential components of a more creatively driven political economy. This dual commitment nurtures a symbiotic relationship between art and ecology, envisioning a circular and sustainable production that transcends urban norms associated with forms of oppression orchestrated by capitalist exploitation.
